History

  • 1926–Former competitors Benz & Cie. and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft merge to form Daimler-Benz AG.
  • 1942– Freightliner Corporation is founded.
  • 1981–Daimler-Benz acquires Freightliner Credit Corporation, which will later be renamed Mercedes-Benz Credit Corporation.
  • 1983–Mercedes-Benz Credit enters the passenger car financing market.
  • 1984–Mercedes-Benz Credit enters the Canadian market.
  • 1992–Mercedes-Benz Credit starts operations in Mexico.
  • 1993–Mercedes-Benz Credit separates car and truck operations.
  • 1993–Mercedes-Benz Credit enters the market in Brazil and Argentina.
  • 1998–Daimler-Benz and Chrysler merge to form DaimlerChrysler AG.
  • 1999–Mercedes-Benz Credit and Chrysler Financial merge operations and are named DaimlerChrysler Services North America.
  • 2001–DaimlerChrysler Services North America books one million contracts in a calendar year.
  • 2004–DaimlerChrysler Services North America has 5,500 employees who manage a portfolio of $85 billion and nearly five million contracts.
  • 2007–DaimlerChrysler Board of Management sells 80.1 percent ownership of the Chrysler Group, and with it Chrysler Financial, to Cerberus Capital Management LP. The financial services company is divided.
  • 2007–After the separation, Daimler Financial Services contains two business units: Mercedes-Benz Financial and Daimler Truck Financial.
  • 2007–Mercedes-Benz Financial receives top honors in J.D. Power Dealer Financing Satisfaction Study: No. 1 in Prime Retail Credit and No. 1 in Floor Planning; as well as No. 1 in Overall Dealer Satisfaction.
  • 2007–Daimler Truck Financial receives top honors in American Truck Dealers’ attitude survey of manufacturers.
Today, Daimler Financial Services in the Americas comprises two business units: Mercedes-Benz Financial and Daimler Truck Financial. The name may be new, but our vast experience, trusted reputation and commitment to our automotive and truck dealers and their customers are 25 years strong.
